Nature sites:

Beautiful, scenic nature with trails, Isosaaren polku and Kumpujen polku trails. The total lenght of trails is about 5 km. Two Lapp huts, bird-watching tower, wooden benches to relax. You can enjoy the nature of Kalajoki river by canoeing. River beds and Haapajärvi and Kortejärvi lakes are close to each other.
(15 €/canoe, inc. lifejackets, two canoes available to book).

Siiponkoski and nature around belong to provincially valuable areas. You can find more information about
the village of Siiponkoski and hiking trails on the website of the Haapajärvi city, as well as the same sites on
Metsähallitus trail maps-page.
You can also borrow the paper trail map from information board in Siiponkosken Jokikeskus parking lot.

Myllynketo accessible Lapp hut

Myllynketo accessible Lapp hut door is locked. The instructions of opening Myllynketo hut's door is below at photo.

Hut is free to use. The same instructions you'll also find from the wall of the Myllynketo's hut.

Please read the instructions properly!

A fishing dock, dry toilet and wood shed is front yard of the Myllynketo's hut.

Note!
Dry toilet is temporarily out of use (during the winter time)!

At winter time snow removal once a week.
Firewood at wood shed is limited in use, so please use it sparingly!
If possible, please take your own firewood with you.

Near by the Myllynketo hut begins Kumpujen polku trail (trail map here), and other trails also nearby:
Isosaaren polku and bird-watching tower trails. There's smaller bbq hut along the bird-watching tower trail (free to use, always open, wood shed near by it), campfire place outside, bird-watching tower and short duckboards past the pond (150 metres of duckboards).

Driving directions to Myllynketo hut:

where turn onto the pederstrian and cycle route, and same route for about 400 m to the Myllynketo hut.

Note! Driving next to Myllynketo hut is only allowed e.g. for disabled people and taxis.
Otherwise the vehicle must be left in the parking area after the Tiitonrannantie road's turn,
next to the pedestrian and cycle route! 

Driving via Siiponkosken Jokikeskus:
With car, address:
Siiponkoskentie 220, 85800 Haapajärvi (Google Maps -map below)

Go walking/biking to Siiponkosken Jokikeskus' backyard to shoreline, over the footbridge and through Isosaari, about 400 m. After the second (red) footbridge turn the right and go pedestrian/cycle route about 200 m to Myllynketo hut.

Note! Driving through Isosaari with a motor vehicle is not allowed!
